KPMG has 2,000 auditors, 4 different business units and more than 1,000 clients. Budget and resource planning are done by respective business units before aggregating to Retain Director,  Audit function partners In-Charge and Head of Audit for final approvals. However, due to the different tools and manual calculation, there is always a need to reconcile.

As-Is Journey Map

  • Conducted 18 in-depth interviews with staff from Audit PIC, FS, E&T, DI&I and RECT to map out the as-is journey for both budget as well as the planning of resources

  • Quotes gathered from the interviewees across various levels include:

  • “ A lot of manual work… ”

  • “ Engagement budget comes in different format from different managers…”

  • “ Way too many things to fill up on the budget sheet…”

We prototype, user test and validate...

  • Paper prototype was created and validated by the different roles across all the business units.

  • Based on the feedback gathered from all the users, a digital prototype was created to provide a stronger sense of the experience using this tool.

Key Stakeholder Buy-In

The to-be journey was presented to Audit Partners and Managing Partner Ong Pang Thye using the high-fidelity prototype and the team received the green light to proceed to develop the tool successfully.

Product Roadmap

  • The team works closely with IT and offshore development team to identify the best database architecture as well as review different technical solutions for an effective and customized build.

  • To align our work process and enhance communication, all parties are involved in daily stand-up meetings and regular build reviews.
